The Centralized Content Management (CCM) tool in Open LMS helps administrators and instructors efficiently create, manage, and distribute learning content across multiple courses. Instead of duplicating the same activity or resource in several courses manually, CCM enables you to manage everything from a single, centralized location.
What Is CCM?
CCM allows you to create Master versions of Moodle activities and resources — such as Pages, Files, and more — and then replicate them across different course sections. These Replicas are linked to the Master, meaning any updates made to the Master can be reflected automatically in all Replicas, ensuring consistency across your courses.
Supported Content Types in CCM
You can currently create and manage the following activities and resources using CCM:
- Page
- File
- Label
- SCORM
- Quiz
- Assignment
These content types can be used as Masters, replicated to one or multiple courses, and optionally updated in sync.
How CCM Works
1. Create a Master
Set up a Master version of an activity or resource in CCM. Define the content and settings just once.
2. Distribute Replicas
Replicate the Master to any course and section of your choice. Each Replica is linked and can be updated automatically or manually.
3. Edit with Confidence
When editing a Master:
- A 2-hour Edition Mode window opens, during which you can make changes.
- Changes are auto-saved at the end of this session.
- A notification indicates you’re in Edition Mode, with a quick link to the CCM main page.
- You can also manually save at any point during editing.
4. Update Linked Replicas
- Automatically push updates from the Master to all or selected Replicas.
Why Use CCM?
- Centralized Management: Control all your key content from one place.
- Efficiency: Reduce the need to duplicate effort across courses.
- Consistency: Maintain a unified experience across course offerings.
- Flexibility: Decide when to edit and how changes are applied.
- Clarity: Edition Mode helps you track and manage edits clearly.
Great For...
- Sharing standard materials across programs.
- Maintaining consistency in multi-instructor or multi-cohort environments.
- Managing widely used documents, templates, or activities with ease.
