Conduit Core Features

Moodle™, the world's most widely used open-source learning management system and the core of Open LMS' learning management solutions, natively provides administrators with the flexibility to manage enrollments, users and courses. Conduit enhances this functionality to make administration easier by allowing administrators to automate these vital tasks.

Conduit can also integrate with any system that supports a web services producer, a comma separated value (CSV) export, or an XML export, allowing for centralized data management and a truly connected learning architecture. CSV files are a common format for exchanging user information. Conduit allows for a number of additional features not currently provided by Moodle™’s manual user upload or flat file data import methods.

Primary Features:

  • User/Course/Enrollment/Group Management: Automates all aspects of user creation/update/deletion, course creation/update/deletion, enrollment add/drop, and group creation/update/deletion.
  • Change Key Record Field: Conduit allows you to choose the key record field for user accounts, courses, and role identification to fit your organizational needs. Users can be identified by username (default), or by email, or a unique identifier provided by your SIS.
  • Password Creation: Automatically create a unique password for each new user.
  • CSV/XML Upload Format: Common, easy-to-produce data formats supported by most SIS/CRM/HR/etc. systems. The site will be updated with all changes to the uploaded CSV or XML files on a timed schedule.
  • Restful Web Services: Manage your Conduit data with a Web services producer for your student information system (SIS). This allows for real-time instant updates to Conduit whenever an update is made in the SIS.
  • Course Templates: Have Conduit create courses according to a pre-populated template. Assign a default template for all courses and/or choose the specific "Master" template for a given course.
  • Archive on Delete: Courses can be set to be archived prior to Conduit deleting them.
  • Auto-hide on End Date: Conduit can be configured to automatically hide courses when their optional end date arrives.
  • Detailed Log: Stores information about Conduit actions, warnings, and errors.
  • E-mail Notifications: E-mail alerts sent to designated system administrators when Conduit processes run.
  • Load Tested: Conduit has been tested with over 100,000 users loaded and up to one million course enrollments executed.

In simple terms, Conduit provides an external table with mappings for incoming data to map to system records and rules for how Conduit processes that data and updates Open LMS. There are General settings that handle how Conduit works and Mappings for how Conduit interprets incoming data. Plus operations, reports, edit views, web services, and more.
