Program Catalog filters aligned with the Course Catalog
Learners can now filter the Program Catalog by program name and duration, and find programs by the courses they contain using course name, category, duration, rating and tags. Filters can be combined and look and behave the same way as in the Course Catalog.
Default Table of Contents state in Snap
Site administrators can now choose whether the course Table of Contents opens collapsed or expanded by default for all courses using Snap. This configuration applies globally to all courses using the Snap theme for both teachers and students, and any change a user makes during their session is kept until the session ends.

Sessions: Attendance Grading
This release lets the Sessions activity send learner attendance to the course gradebook, so instructors no longer need to record attendance grades by hand. This closes one of the key gaps between Sessions and Face-to-Face.
- When Use attendance is enabled on a Sessions activity, a grade item for the activity appears in the course gradebook.
- Attendance statuses map to grades: Attended is graded as approved, Partially attended as partially approved and Absent as failed.
- Grades are calculated per track, not per session. A learner's final grade is the average across all tracks they take part in, and tracks that only contain future sessions are left out of the calculation.
- Grades update as soon as attendance is marked or changed, and a daily task recalculates them as sessions move into the past.
- Manual grade overrides made in the gradebook are kept and are not replaced by later attendance updates.
- After the upgrade, a background task automatically creates grade items for existing Sessions activities that already use attendance. This task runs shortly after the upgrade completes.
Please review affected courses: because grade items are created automatically for existing Sessions activities that use attendance, course totals may change depending on how each gradebook is set up.

Accessibility & Usability Improvements
Snap front page
- Redesigned the front page carousel with a single control bar for previous, next, slide position and play/pause, and a caption area that keeps text readable against the image at every screen size.
- Carousel slide titles are now limited to 60 characters and subtitles to 130 characters when saved, while existing longer text is kept and shortened with an ellipsis on display.
- Updated the Enrolled courses and Available courses cards so the image and title form a single link, the course title is a proper heading and the course information button can be reached by keyboard.
- Screen reader users now hear how many course cards are in each set and where each card begins and ends.
Location: Site administration > Appearance > Themes > Snap
Snap navigation and filters
- Collapsed side drawers in Snap are now hidden from screen readers and no longer receive keyboard focus.
- Drawer controls now tell screen reader users whether a drawer is open or closed, and controls that act as buttons are now announced as buttons.
- The My Courses filter now describes its purpose and its link to the filtered course list to screen reader users.
Color contrast
- Improved the contrast of several default Snap colors, including information highlights and dimmed text, to match the more accessible values used in Boost.

| local_appcrue | AppCrue connection services | Institutions using AppCRUE, the university mobile app from CRUE (Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities), can now bring Open LMS course information and notifications into the app their students already use. Shares each learner's calendar events, forum posts, files, grades and announcements from Open LMS with AppCRUE, and lets learners move from the app into Open LMS with automatic login. Requests from AppCRUE are authorized through an API key or a token validated by the institution's identity provider. |
| message_appcrue | AppCRUE push notifications | Sends Open LMS notifications to learners' phones as AppCRUE push notifications. Administrators can limit notifications to course announcements and choose which user profile field is used to match learners, and learners can turn these notifications on or off in their notification preferences. |
Additional Fixes and Minor Improvements
Security
- Security: Applied all upstream security fixes included in Moodle™ 5.1.5, 5.1.6 and 5.1.7. Fixes from 5.1.6 and 5.1.7 were also applied earlier to production sites through 5.1 MP1 hotfixes.
- Security: Updated the Angular framework used by Snap, Open Reports and Conduit to a currently supported version, clearing known vulnerabilities in production dependencies.
Gradebook & Assessment
- Fixed an issue where instructors had to wait up to five minutes before editing the gradebook again after changing grades in courses with more than 100 grades. Open LMS Support can now adjust, per site, the point at which grade recalculation moves to the background.
- Improved gradebook stability in very large courses by preventing more than one full-course grade recalculation from running at the same time. This option is available for eligible sites on request through Open LMS Support.
- Fixed an issue where files attached to an assignment description could not be opened and returned a "file not found" error.
- Fixed an issue where the quiz setting Require previous attempts to be graded was reset to No when a course was copied or restored.
- Fixed an issue where the Open Grader Show all activities option switched back to Show activities requiring grading after a comment was saved.
- Fixed an issue where a custom name set for Open Grader through language customization did not appear in the course administration menu or breadcrumb.
- Fixed an issue where the AI question generator created questions from unreadable or empty files instead of showing an error.
Sessions
- Fixed an issue where a waitlisted learner was not booked right away when another learner canceled their own booking, which could let someone else take the open seat first.
- Fixed an issue where the session date token was not replaced with the actual date in the User booked notification.
- Fixed an issue where attendance could be marked for sessions that had not yet taken place.
Programs & Certifications
- Fixed an issue where choosing All in the per-page option on the My Programs page caused an error every time the page loaded afterward.
- Fixed an issue where courses with names longer than 254 characters could not be added to a program.
- Fixed an issue where hidden courses could appear in program content.
- Fixed an issue where multi-language tags appeared as raw text in program and certificate names on the My Programs and My Certificates pages.
- Fixed an issue where program names and custom field values did not display correctly in some Programs and Certifications views.
- The My Certificates page now shows the course or program name for each certificate.
- Clarified the completion date label on course cards in My Programs so it clearly refers to the learner's completion date.
- Improved the help text for program visibility and custom field visibility settings, and made visual adjustments to program filters and pagination.
- Fixed an issue where custom certificates ignored the text formatting of course custom fields and where emailed certificates did not use the custom file name pattern.
Reporting
- Fixed an issue where the Open Reports Engine "Percentage of progress through enrolled courses" column could show values above 100%.
- Fixed an issue where the Open Reports Engine Course Modules "Viewed" column showed a blank value instead of Yes after an activity was viewed.
- Fixed an issue where some Open Reports Engine grade calculations could fail with a division-by-zero error.
- Fixed an issue where the progress indicator did not display in the "Progress (% complete)" column of Open Reports Engine reports using the Course completion source.
- Fixed an issue where tags and buttons in the Open Reports Engine toolbar search box were cut off in Snap.
- Fixed an issue where Admin SQL saved queries showed oversized delete icons in Snap and did not appear in Boost.
Multi-Tenancy
- Fixed an issue where deactivating tenants while using the Snap Tenants theme left the site without a theme; the site now switches to Snap automatically.
- Fixed an issue where the Snap Tenants theme appeared in the theme selector on sites without Multi-Tenancy enabled.
- Fixed several Snap Tenants display issues, including tenant administrators not seeing the site administration menu, carousel cover images not showing, and logos and favicons not loading for users outside a tenant.
- Fixed an issue where the Snap Tenants theme card showed the wrong preview image and light color values were hard to read on the tenant appearance page.
Personalized Learning Designer & Forums
- Fixed an issue where the Run this action once checkbox could not be selected in the Personalized Learning Designer Send Email action.
- Fixed an issue where the Personalized Learning Designer Insert Token menus displayed and positioned their options inconsistently across windows.
- Fixed an issue where anchor links in Open Forums did not move the page to the linked section.
Snap Theme
- Fixed an issue where the Next and Previous links and the Jump to activity menu did not follow the Table of Contents order after subsections were moved.
- Fixed an issue where the Table of Contents kept highlighting the General section instead of the tile being viewed in Tiles format courses.
- Fixed an issue where the site administration menu did not appear on course question bank pages.
- Fixed an issue where the Reset user tour on this page link was missing from the course home page.
- Fixed an issue where access restriction settings extended outside their section and were partly hidden.
- Fixed an issue where the bulk actions button appeared in different positions depending on the course section.
- Fixed an issue where small confirmation windows, such as delete and permalink, filled the whole screen on mobile devices.
- Fixed an issue where the Message preferences page content was misaligned and displayed underneath the sidebar.
- Fixed an issue where a second search bar appeared on the course header after a Wiki activity was added.
Blocks
- Fixed an issue where the Completion Progress block rapidly expanded and contracted when hovering over activities in the student overview.
Assessment
- Adaptive Quiz now links to a whole question bank instead of a single question category, with the question source set on a new Item Bank page after the activity is created, in line with Moodle™ 5.1 question bank changes.
- Existing Adaptive Quiz activities that use question categories keep working after the upgrade.
