We want to inform you about upcoming changes regarding the Configurable Reports plugin (block_configurable_reports) in Open LMS.
Our current policy
After careful evaluation, the Open LMS Product team has decided to phase out support for the Configurable Reports plugin.
- Since 2021, Moodle™ HQ has discontinued maintenance and updates for this plugin, and it is no longer supported in Moodle™ Core 4.0.
- The plugin does not receive regular updates or support from its original maintainer, relying instead on community contributions with no consistent release schedule.
- It presents potential security risks and compatibility issues with the latest versions of Open LMS EDU and WORK.
Support Status:
- We will continue to maintain the Configurable Reports plugin only for clients actively using it in Learnbook and Managed Hosting.
- However, we will no longer provide support for creating new reports within this plugin or install it for new clients.
- This includes new Managed Hosting clients/prospects and any client migrating from another product to Managed Hosting.
End-of-Support Timeline:
- The plugin will be phased out by July 2026, specifically for existing clients who are actively using it.
- The plugin is not available in other Open LMS products, and we will not consider it for addition to EDU or WORK.
Next Steps:
- We highly recommend switching to the Open Report Engine (ORE), which is under active development to meet a wide range of reporting needs.
- If ORE does not cover your requirements, please let us know so we can consider your feedback in our development process.
Alternative Options:
- In WORK, you can utilize the Ad Hoc Database Queries plugin for running SQL reports.
- In EDU, the Deferred Reports functionality allows you to schedule SQL reports in the background.
Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need further assistance.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we continue to enhance our products.
