If you’re looking for assistance when it comes to adjusting the appearance of your site, and the Core Appearance Settings Guide doesn't contain the information you need, we're happy to support you! Below are some general guidelines to what is considered to be 'in scope' versus 'out of scope' - requests that we can, or cannot, help manage under general support
For more information about themes and their general look and feel, please see Theme Options and Brand Match
Standard Theme Support
Many theme and appearance related requests fall under this banner.
- Basic branding requests. These requests encompass small changes to the appearance of your site, and can include simple custom CSS (setting/changing site colors, logos, fonts), e.g.:
-
- Altering the site navbar/header (logo, background color)
- Background colors for the majority of the site
- Blocks (font colors, background color, fonts)
- Highlight colors for content
- Text colors and fonts (including font family)
- Link color and style
- Menu color and style
- Footer tweaks and fixes
-
Minor fixes to display and positioning and/or fixing broken elements.
-
Custom login pages.
Many of these take some time and consultation with you. As much detail as you can offer is helpful, and please see this checklist for elements we may need from you to ensure your site looks how you need it to: Theming Checklist
Out Of Scope
Below are just a couple of examples of common requests we get that are out of the scope of our capabilities.
- Role-based theme requests
- Theme changes are applied site-wide, and cannot be applied to specific roles. There are certain exceptions (such as WORK cohorts), but generally speaking, this is not feasible.
- Rendering the Course Index/Block Drawer open/closed by default.
- It is our recommendation to change the color of the buttons that open these if there are concerns about visibility and discoverability of these.
- Both the block drawer on the right side of the page and the course index drawer on the left side of the course page are designed to remember whether the user collapsed or expanded it the last time they used it, and they will keep that behavior the next time the user navigates to a page with that drawer.
The support team will let you know if other requests are unable to be completed and will work with you on what other options may be available to you.
