PLD New user experience
Our user experience team presents this new PLD UI design aiming to facilitate the management of PLD rules:
- Targeting the creation and editing of rules in a single view to generate continuity and simplicity.
- Introducing a summary dialog that guides the user in validating the components of the created rule.
- Providing greater clarity in the hierarchy of elements, helping to identify more easily the critical actions in rule management: Deletion, Editing, Copying, and history logs.
We're excited to announce that in this 4.1 MP5 release, all PLD functionalities are fully supported and ready to use!
Keep in mind that on version 4.3, the legacy PLD will be removed, and the new PLD will be the only option available.
Snap My courses new design
The Snap feeds functionality has been converted into a drawer that will be available to all users throughout the site navigation, allowing quick access to notifications of deadlines, grading messages, and forum replies.
By clicking on the new icon added to the header, the user will now be able to expand or hide the drawer.
The My Courses view will now only display relevant details about courses.
Please take a few minutes to review our Snap new features for 4.1 MP5 post, which further details UI and UX modifications done to Snap's personal menu and activity cards in MP4, MP5, and hotfixes.
Activity cards redesign
The 'Move' action has been relocated to the activity cards menu. Now, you can move one or more sources on a course page by clicking the 'Move' option on each activity card's menu. Afterward, a checkbox will appear on each activity card, allowing you to select multiple activities/sources to move within the course, to other parts of the section, or to another section.
AI New Plugins
Two new AI plugins will be available for all clients.
AI Text to Images
This repository plugin seamlessly integrates with the OpenAI API, allowing users to access AI-generated images directly through the Moodle™ file picker. It empowers users to effortlessly incorporate these images to any part of the system that uses the file picker.
AI Text to Questions
A local plugin accessible from the course top menu allows teachers to generate questions based on a given text using OpenAI's ChatGPT. From the course top menu, teachers can select 'AI Questions' to access a form where they can paste or write text and choose the desired amount of questions. After clicking the 'Generate Questions' button, the system sends a request to ChatGPT and creates questions in the course question bank using the results. Teachers can then use these questions in quizzes.
These plugins require a commercial subscription via a paid OpenAI account. Once a paid account is created, all you need to do is add the API key to the plugin settings.
No additional fee to Open LMS is needed.
Open Reports Engine
In the upcoming 4.1 MP5 release, the Open Reports Engine(ORE) and 32 sources applicable for EDU will be activated for all clients. In this new version of ORE :
We have added three report blocks which will be available for all clients:
- block_report_graph
- block_report_manager
- block_report_table
We are releasing to new data sources
- rbsource_facetofacesessions
- rbsource_vouchers
For the Snap theme we have a new link in the user menu to access 'My Reports'.
In-App Admin User Onboarding functionality for new functionalities in 4.1 MP5
In the new Open LMS 4.1 MP5 release, we are adding more in-app onboarding flows for admins! Making it easier than ever for admins to discover and utilise new Open LMS features, and share feedback in the process.
We want to help our Admins to better understand new functionalities, receive direct product feedback, and with it, define what we need to improve in our features.
For this 4.1 MP5 release, we will deploy these in-app onboarding flows for the PLD redesign, Open Reports engine and new Snap feeds, and it will only be visible to admin users that are subscribed to the Open LMS Data telemetry initiative.
If you currently are not subscribed to this initiative and want to be, please fill out this short form.
