To improve the quality of the upgrade process and shorten the production upgrade window, non-production (sandbox) sites will be upgraded on Thursday, Jan 25, 2024, between 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM EST.

Downtime will be required for your production and non-production sites during this window.

Open LMS Highlights

E-commerce plugin integration

For this release, we have released our Open LMS e-commerce suite which seamlessly integrates flexible and powerful cataloging with e-commerce capabilities into your native Open LMS environment. Expand your audience and reliably deliver educational offerings by incorporating practical e-commerce features.

You can create education products tailored to your learner’s requirements, including single courses, supplemental content, quizzes, or scheduled face-to-face sessions. Define restrictions for your product access and purchase products through the catalog, deep links, and embeds with flexible payment options.

The support of programs will be added in upcoming releases.

New activity cards design and functionalities

For this release 4.1 MP4, we're graphically updating the design of Snap activity and resource cards, which are displayed inside the course or on the front page. This includes resources when displayed as lists or as cards, depending on the Snap settings. We've improved how these cards look with a fresh and modern design while maintaining the existing functionalities.

Now activities and resources have:

• A border to all cards, including the ones that didn't have one before, such as resources such as Book, File, Folder, IMS Content package, Page, and URL. A new icon with a specific color was also included.

• Have a better alignment between activity icons, activity names, and asset types.

• To maintain better usability, the label activity is the only activity that doesn't have an icon or a border.

• When the resources are set as a card, these will have more padding and look more squared, this to show more information in the description and improve accessibility.

• As a last improvement for this release, there is a new enhancement to the Page activity:
  You can choose if the page content gets displayed within the course content, or be redirected to the page activity, a chevron icon will be displayed below the page content/description and will work as the old close button. This all can be defined in the course display setting.

As mentioned in our previous release notes, we deactivated the next set of plugins listed below and for the next 4.1 MP5 release we are planning to remove them from our code base:

In Moodle™ 4.2, the Atto editor was eliminated from Moodle™ Core, for our Open LMS clients this means, that for our next 4.3 major release in July, will also let Tiny be the default editor for our platforms.

Auth_gsaml will have the final deactivation in Moodle™ 4.3.
