Moodle 4.0 introduced a new look and feel of the Moodle interface. This article will outline the theme options available and get you started thinking about how you'd like your site to look.
Open LMS supports the following themes for 4.x:
- Snap
- Boost
- Classic
- LearnR (for Managed Hosting clients only)
As we’ve experienced with the transition to version 4.x, third party themes come with the risk that they may not be maintained and updated to be compatible with future versions. Therefore, we are no longer able to offer support for select third party themes.
Boost
We have developed two presets for the Boost theme which clients can use to personalize their sites in versions 4.0 and up. These can be set up on the dev site we provide as part of our preparation for your scheduled upgrade.

More information about The Snap Theme can be found in the linked support article.
LearnR Theme (available only to Managed Hosting clients)
The LearnR theme provides extensive options for further customization of this Boost-based theme and offers many of the same features from the Fordson theme, which was by the same plugin developer. More information about its unique features is available at https://moodle.org/plugins/theme_learnr
Theme and Appearance Support
The support team can help you to customize the colors, apply new logos or images, and work to hide and remove items, where possible. For an outline of what we're able to assist with, please see Theme Support Guidelines Additional changes outside of that scope may require consultation with our Professional Services team and an additional fee.
Brand Match
With the Open LMS Brand Match service, clients work with our Professional Services team to configure a consistent branded aesthetic for your site using either the Boost or Snap theme. For Managed Hosting (formerly eThink) clients, we are offering a discounted rate on our Brand Match service to help support your transition to version 4.x.
If you are interested in the Brand Match service, please let us know so we can explore how this process could fit into your upgrade timeline.
